A one-day conference on the way ahead for BSL/Eng interpreters & CSWs

City Lit is hosting an exciting new conference for interpreters and CSWs.
Dr Christopher Stone (ASLI / DCAL) will begin the day with a talk on the theme of Single and multiple skill sets: territories & boundaries of BSL/English interpreters and Communication Support Workers in education and beyond. This will be followed by a look at the future of educational interpreting, by Nicki Harris (Co-chair of ASLI Education Working Group).
You will have the opportunity to improve your skills and knowledge through a variety of morning and afternoon workshops.
Workshops will include: voice-over training – theory and practice; consecutive interpreting; research from DCAL on interpreter aptitude; the use of Deaf interpreters; ethical issues related to educational support; the Association of CSWs; and notetaker training.
Paul Parsons from Signature (CACDP) will explain current developments from the NRCDP (IRP) including the registration of CSWs. There will then be a ‘question time’ to our panel of speakers, where you can get involved in a discussion on the themes covered in the day.
